Exclusive: Our Q&A With Kaitlyn Black – What Does the Future Hold for Annabeth?
Author: Kate Brooks
After many DM’s (direct messages on Twitter) exchanged between the wonderful Kaitlyn Black and I, we were finally able to have a chat about her role as Annabeth Nass and discuss what the future holds for her character. And yes, I did ask her about the 50 Shades of Grey references…
Kaitlyn is such a lovely lady and was thrilled when I asked her to do a Q&A with us. Check out below to see our short Q&A that I call “Part 1″ Hopefully Part 2 will come later on!
My Questions are Italic and her answers are not (marked by the initials “KB”)
WARNING: Possible Spoilers!

How excited were you when you found out that Annabeth would FINALLY be getting her own story lines and more screen time?
KB: I was thrilled! I love playing AB. We have such a great cast and crew, it truly is a pleasure to come to work everyday. And as an actress it just goes to show you never know what will happen with a job. I was originally only supposed to be in 2 episodes in season 1, and now I’ve become a solid recurring character.
We have already seen the relationship development between Annabeth and Lavon. How do you think this will turn out? Do you have any expectations for this relationship in the long haul?
KB: First of all I love working with Cress. The kiss we shared in episode 2.13 was my first on-screen romantic kiss, and I was nervous. Not to kiss him, although it is a little weird making out with someone you’re not dating, but I wanted to make sure it looked like we had chemistry. He was very sweet and reassuring about the situation, and made sure I was comfortable. A true gentleman. As for our relationship, only time will tell. I think once you explore a relationship with a character there will always be chemistry. But just like real life people change, feelings change, and in Bluebell new people are always dropping by.
When Lemon finds out about Lavon and Annabeth, is it going to shake things up in a negative or positive regard? Or is Lemon going to step to the side and let Annabeth be happy?
KB: Well as you saw in the last episode Lemon did not take the news well. And it won’t be easy mending their friendship, but AB is going to give it her best shot. And hopefully in the end their friendship will stand the test of time and overcome this new hurdle. As far as Lavon is concerned you’ll have to tune in to find out!
The 50 Shades of Grey scene had me dying! I have to ask, have you read the book?
KB: Haha, I have not. I tend to only read non-fiction and biographies/memoirs. As an actress you work in a false reality, so when I read I want to involve myself in a true story
Annabeth seems like a bit of comedic relief most of the time. Do you enjoy the comedy more than the dramatic or vise versa?
KB: I definitely gravitate to comedy. It comes easier to me and I love making people laugh. However most of the TV shows I watch are dramatic; Homeland, American Horror Story, Justified & the list goes on. Hopefully one day I’ll get the opportunity to really challenge myself and play a heavy dramatic role.
Finally, what can we expect from Annabeth in the future? In any regard, relationships, scenes, etc.
KB: Well I think AB is a fairly important character in Bluebell, so hopefully she won’t be going anywhere!! (Fingers Crossed) I think her storyline will focus more on mending her relationship with Lemon, and depending on that outcome figuring out how to handle her new love interest. I do hope there will be more catering scenes in the future. I had a lot of fun being frazzled with flour all over my face! And I hope that AB & Zoe can “run into” each other more. I rarely see Rachel and I would love to work with her more.
